Best Sun Peaks Restaurant - Which Is Best For you?

Best Sun Peaks Restaurants, bars and patiosWhich is the Best Sun Peaks Restaurant for you? Outside Morrisey's?

With many great choices, which is the Best Sun Peaks restaurant for you and your family?

While we love to cook and have tried to ensure we have stocked our vacation rental kitchens with everything you need to cook your own meals while enjoying the spectacular views, we love to enjoy the great places in the village too.

And perhaps even before you drive through the village, check out the new Ohana Deli which is located in the new Peaks West development, across from the fire hall.  Great deli items, fresh marinated meats, charcuterie items, delicious mafioso olives, prepared and ready-to-heat take-away means, fresh-baked items and more.

If you wish to eat out in Sun Peaks village, there are plenty of options available.  We welcome the comments/opinions of our guests, and will add those as well as our own opinions to this section in the future.  So if we like somewhere we will be sure to recommend it (in our humble opinions). And since we respect everyone's personal tastes and the hard work of local entrepreneurs, we will keep any negative opinions we may have to ourselves. Which is the Best Sun Peaks restaurant for you is of course, up to you. So please enjoy and support our Best Sun Peaks restaurants and local businesses and form your own opinion – and please let us know your thoughts.

The information on the following pages is partly our own experiences and part courtesy of the Sun Peaks Resort.

Operating hours may vary, so we suggest you check or call the restaurant in advance to ensure the restaurant you choose is in fact open as the owners sometimes shut down so they can recharge their batteries too!

Next question - where is the Best Sun Peaks Bar or patio to enjoy a pint or two, and who has the Best Sun Peaks selection of beer?  And after a night of fun, who makes the Best Sun Peaks coffee?

In alphabetical order…..sometimes the best may be last ;)

Not a Best Sun Peaks restaurant but we do like to support local businesses so these guys get a mention.

Bolacco Café (Breakfast, coffee, lunch, early dinner, treats)

Bolacco Cafe - perhaps Sun Peaks Best coffeeBolacco Cafe - perhaps Sun Peaks Best coffee

Located in the Coast Sundance Lodge

Tel:  (250) 578-7588

Open daily from 8:30am to 5:00pm

The Bolacco Café is absolutely a visitor and local’s favourite for coffee, treats, wraps, sandwiches, and friendly conversation from the owners Konrad and Elizabeth who have been part of the Sun Peaks community since 1996.

Come by and enjoy a specialty coffee, and local hospitality.

Bolacco Café is also the perfect spot to have a quick breakfast, sweet treat, lunch, or light dinner.  It is small though and the line-up can be out the door at times.

Personal note: Great coffee and pastries too.  The Berry Scones are ‘bursting with berriness’ and the chocolate croissants are delicious. The owners will quickly get to know your preferences and it’s one of our fave’s and is on many lists of Best Sun Peaks restaurant or Best Sun Peaks coffee shop.

Bottom's Bar & Grill (Lunch, dinner, apres-ski bar)

Bottom's Bar & Grill Restaurant Sun PeaksGreat pub food & atmosphere at Bottoms

Located near the Sundance chairlift in the Coast Sundance Lodge

Tel:  (250) 578-0013

Bottom’s is known as the “local’s living room” and has got the pub scene down with daily drink specials, along with one of the most lively après-ski bar atmospheres on the mountain. They have a good selection of very good pub food and if you don’t get there early, be prepared to wait in line for lunch.

During the 2018/19 ski season, they experimented with electronic wait-lists and messaging which seemed to really help.  Kids are very welcome during the day but after 9 pm it turns into a very lively pub.

Bottoms also ranks as one of our favorite Sun Peaks bars & patios.

Personal opinion: One of our favorite places and certainly a Best Sun Peaks restaurant and bar for a drink or two, lunch, and après ski destination.

The ‘Cahilty’ is another popular Sun Peaks bar and restaurant with a great ski-in/ski-out location slope-side in the Nancy Greene’s Cahilty Hotel and Suites building.  It is now independently owned and operated by Sun Peaks locals, and recently underwent some nice renovations by the new owners.  There is a small outdoor patio as well.

The Cahilty has one of the Best Sun Peaks selections of craft beer, offering 12 different taps of draft, 2 taps of cider, a red & white wine on tap, and a varied selection of food for breakfast, lunch, après-ski and dinner.

Personal note: Bottoms, the Voyageur Bistro and Masa's have great poutine!

        Magic Cattleguard Diner

Located in Peaks West (across from the firehall at the entrance to the village)

Tel: (250) 578-0853

The Magic Cattleguard is a great new casual diner located in the West Village as part of the new Peaks West development.  Started in 2019 by locals, we checked it out during a recent visit and the quality and selection of food and beverages was really good.  I had the chicken parm sandwich and Nancy had a schwarma and both were delicious.  The restaurant was named after a former nearby cattleguard that seemed to be the 'magic' location where rain would fall on one side, and snow would fall on the other.  It has since been removed but locals still know this as a magical spot.

Support locals - it's a bit of a walk or just a very short drive but worth it.  Ohana Deli and the new Yoga studio are very close by too.

Located in the Sun Peaks Grand Hotel

Tel: (250) 578-6060

Mantles Lounge offers a sophisticated adults only experience and is adjacent to Mantles Restaurant in the hotel’s lower lobby. “Enjoy a relaxing environment of dark woods in front of a lit fire while experimenting with exotic spirits or micro wineries while tasting regionally inspired tapas.”

They also have one of the best selections of craft and draft beer in Sun Peaks, with 16 different taps. Masa’s is available for private functions during our spring and fall months.  They also have an outdoor seating area in the summer.

Personal opinion: Most stuff not bad and location is good.  We prefer Bottoms but are quite happy to pop in to Masa’s from time-to-time or when the line-up is too long at Bottoms.

Morrisey’s Public House (Lunch, dinner, drinks)

Located in the Residences at Sun Peaks Grand

Morrisey’s is a comfortable and fun Irish style pub where visitors and locals come to hang out. Drop by any given night for a game of darts, test your memory with interactive trivia or watch live sporting events. Thursdays typically offer Open Mic nights for your entertaining pleasure. There is a pretty good food and drink selection, and the wood-framed outdoor patio has a nice little fireplace table to keep you warm in winter and summer.

They are also the hosts of the Morrisey’s Reach The Peak promotion for hiking in the summer, where a social media post at Tod Lake or the summit of Tod Mountain gets you a free beer, Jack Daniels shooter, and t-shirt.  We enjoy ours each summer!  Great Sun Peaks outdoor patio too!

Personal opinion: Free beer for enjoying a 'Reach the Peak' hike in summer at times, and the food and service are good too – how can we say no and how can it not make our list of Best Sun Peaks Restaurants!?
